The CNC turning center is based on a lathe, and further adds the functions of power milling, drilling, boring, and the sub-spindle, so that the turning parts require two times, and the three machining processes are completed on the turning center at one time.
CNC turning centers can be divided into two types: Comb type and turret type according to the turret type:
The type is a tool with multiple powered or fixed tools on three sides and different orientations. The tool is changed by the movement of the table coordinates to complete the end, radial, and eccentric turning, milling, drilling, and boring operations. The limitation is that there is a conflict between the working size and the number of tools. The workpiece is large, and the number of tools must be reduced, which is not conducive to the processing of large workpieces. The advantages are fast tool change speed and short processing time. It is the first choice for efficient processing of small workpieces.
The turret-type turning center is equipped with a power turret on the workbench, which can support various machining operations on the end face and the radial direction. The turret of the turned part and the radial eccentricity and the various parts can be completed by lifting and lowering the power turret (Y-axis function). This kind of processing action, after finishing a process, the turret rotates to replace another tool to complete the complex processing steps. The number of power tools can be more or less. Depending on the size of the machine tool, the turret will occupy a relatively large amount. Space, in addition to the position of the tailstock can also be installed in the auxiliary spindle, making cnc machining easier.
In short, the CNC turning center is a composite turning machine, which can greatly reduce the processing time, and does not need to re-clamp to achieve the requirement of improving the processing accuracy.
