F function can be used to control the speed of tool movement, as shown in Figure 1. The value connected after F represents the tool feed per minute, the unit is mm / min.
If the F function command value exceeds the range set by the manufacturer, the highest or lowest feed rate set by the manufacturer is used as the actual feed rate.
For the actual processing conditions during operation, the actual feed rate can also be adjusted by executing the “cutting feed rate” knob on the operation panel.
Once the F function has not been re-specified after being set, it means that the previously set feed rate continues to be effective.
The value of F function can be calculated by the following formula.
F = F t × T × S
- F t: the feed amount of each edge of the milling cutter mm / tooth
- T: Number of cutting edges of the milling cutter
- S: number of revolutions of the tool rpm
